EMAIL to campus on May 9, 2018

Ensuring the security of St. Lawrence’s information and systems is a serious concern that requires constant attention and occasional updates to our procedures.  In this ongoing effort to keep our campus secure and educate on responsible computing, LIT will be making a slight change to the log-in procedure on all University owned computers this summer.   This enhancement is an industry recommended best practice that is in use at many other higher education institutions.  When implemented the following information will be displayed during the log-in process:

Information Security Notice: Any use of university computing resources is subject to the Acceptable Use of Computer Resources Policy ("AUP") and Information Security Policies available on the university’s website.

On Windows computers, it will appear BEFORE the screen that prompts for your username and password, you are required to press Enter or click OK to proceed.  On Mac computers, it will appear BELOW the area where you provide username and password.

Thank you to the Information Technology Committee (ITC) and senior staff for their guidance as well as the LIT staff who piloted the approach.
