Mathematica installation for student computers

Overview: 

Mathematica is available for students to install on their personal computers.  Their access will end when they graduate or leave the University. The current version of Mathematica will also be available to students in any of the public computer labs.

Details: 

To install for Macintosh computers running OSX:

  • Connect to the N drive.  If SLU network drives haven't been set up on your computer, instructions are available here: http://www.stlawu.edu/it/article/5205
  • Navigate to N:\Menu\SLU Network Menu\Software for Courses\Physics\Mathematica
  • Double click the Mathematica_11.1.1_OSX.dmg file
  • Drag the Mathematica icon to the Applications folder to begin the install.
  • Once the install has finished, open the Applications folder and launch Mathematica.app
  • At the activation screen, click the Other Ways to Activate button
  • Click Connect to a network license server
  • Type license.stlawu.local and click activate
  • Check the box for accepting the license terms and click OK

 

To install for Windows 10/8/7:

  • Connect to the N drive.  If SLU network drives haven't been set up on your computer, instructions are available here: http://www.stlawu.edu/it/article/5205
  • Navigate to N:\Menu\SLU Network Menu\Software for Courses\Physics\Mathematica
  • Right click the Mathematica11.1.1WindowsInstall shortcut and choose Run as Administrator (there will be a delay as the program downloads, Mathematica is a large program)
  • When Wolfram Mathematica Setup launches, click Next, Next, Next, Next, Install (if you have a previous version you will be prompted to uninstall it)
  • Click Finish
  • At the activation screen, click the Other Ways to Activate button
  • Click Connect to a network license server
  • Type license.stlawu.local and click activate
  • Check the box for accepting the license terms and click OK
