Export or print as PDF in Microsoft PowerPoint 2016 for Mac

Overview: 

This article explains how to export or print as PDF in Microsoft PowerPoint 2016 for Mac (version 15.x). Academic posters must be a PDF when submitted for large format printing.

Details: 

Option 1: Export as PDF (version 15.2 or greater)

To check your version, click PowerPoint > About PowerPoint. If you do not have version 15.2 or greater, you should update and use this option to export as PDF. If you cannot update, see option 2.

  1. Click File
  2. Click Export...
  3. Click the File Format drop down and choose PDF
  4. Click Save

 

Option 2: Print as PDF (2 Steps)

Step 1. Create a custom paper size

  1. Click File
  2. Click Page Setup
  3. Click Options
  4. For Paper Size, choose Manage Custom Sizes...
  5. Click the plus symbol (+) to create a new paper size
  6. Set width and height to match your slide/poster size
  7. Click OK
  8. Click OK

Step 2. Print as PDF

  1. Click File
  2. Click Print
  3. Paper size should show as Other with the correct size displayed
  4. Check Scale to fit paper
  5. Click the PDF drop down and choose Save as PDF
  6. Click Save
