Dr. Evelyn Jennings Named Associate Dean for Academic Advising Programs

History Department Chair Dr. Evelyn Jennings has been named Associate Dean for Academic Advising Programs, effective July 1, 2012.  In an e-mail to the campus community on March 26, Vice President of the University and Dean of Academic Affairs Val Lehr said:

I am pleased to announce that, upon the recommendation of the search committee, and with the unqualified support of many colleagues, Dr. Evelyn Jennings has been appointed as the new Associate Dean for Academic Advising Programs.

Evelyn is in her tenth year of teaching at St. Lawrence University, and she has been the History Department Chairperson since July 2009 .  In her time at St. Lawrence, she has also served as the Vice Chair of Faculty Council, as the Chair of the Faculty Life Committee, and as the Coordinator of the Caribbean and Latin American Studies Program.  Among other committees, she has served on the Academic Affairs Committee, the Teagle Grant Steering Committee and the Teaching Circle on Diversity.  In addition, Evelyn served as a member of the University’s Recession Response Phase Two Task Group and of the most-recent Faculty Salary Negotiating Group.

Her success at managing these key responsibilities while teaching, along with the enthusiastic responses from her colleagues regarding her candidacy, illustrates the high level of respect Evelyn has earned during her tenure at the University.  Evelyn will begin her term as Associate Dean on July 1, 2012.   I hope you will join me in congratulating her.
