1856-Minute Challenge Comes to a Successful Conclusion

On April 3rd, St. Lawrence University celebrated its 161st Charter Day. This day marked 161 years of providing transformative experiences for St. Lawrence students. This year we celebrated our history and our future with an 1856-Minute Challenge, asking all Laurentians to support the University with a gift, of any size, to the St. Lawrence Fund.

Starting Monday, April 3, from 10:04 a.m. to Tuesday, April 4 at 5:00 p.m. (EDT), we invited all Laurentians to make a gift. If 1,856 donors made a gift during the challenge hours, their gift would earn St. Lawrence an additional $400,000 thanks to a generous Laurentian match!

Over these 1856 minutes, 2,441 donors demonstrated why it’s great to be a Laurentian. We offer our heartfelt thanks to each of those donors for making every minute count. The 1856-Minute Challenge raised $324,111, plus an additional $500,000 in matching challenge gifts for a total of $824,111, ensuring that the Laurentian legacy will remain strong. A special thank you goes out to our class and donor challengers, as well as our generous anonymous Laurentian match donors.

The support of this great community, throughout the 1856-Minute Challenge, showcased the passion, commitment, and belief that St. Lawrence is a place that creates leaders and Laurentians for Life!
