SLU Geology majors host a class trip of local 5th grade science classes and introduce them to the wonders of geology.
On Wednesday, February 16th, geology major John Murphy and his research advisor Jeff Chiarenzelli spoke to the county’s Environment Management Council on stream geochemistry in St. Lawrence County. John’s works is funded by a Walker Fellowship to Chiarenzelli and is a collaborative effort between himself, Dr. Matthew Skeels of the Department of Chemistry, Carol Cady of the GIS Program, and Chiarenzelli of the Geology Department. John’s presentation of his study in October in Denver at the Geological Society of America’s annual meeting won the best poster award from the Sigma Gamma Epsilon, the geology honorary society. John intends to enter graduate school in the fall applying geology and chemistry in his research.
