Deadline Extended for "BLM + SLU: Moving Forward" Art Exhibition
Many struggle to make sense of the cruel and brutal killing of George Floyd while in police custody, an event which has sparked protests here in the United States and abroad. The COVID-19 pandemic has also revealed the deep disparities that exist in the U.S. health care system for African-American, Latinx, and Native American communities.
In response, St. Lawrence University students, faculty, staff, and alumni are invited to submit digital artworks or photographs for BLM + SLU: Moving Foward, an online exhibition that will be featured on the Gallery website. Please include two or three sentences describing your image to add context and meaning. You are encouraged to come up with something that tells a thoughtful, personal story related to your own understanding and experience of these events. Dig deep and think outside the box. This is a time to express yourselves creatively, empathize with others, and build community at a historic moment. The exhibition seeks to amplify the voices of the marginalized and of the allies and anti-racists who care to show their support.
Please send submissions to email@example.com by December 31, 2020, and include SLU class year, if appropriate.
