Mothing Nights, Week 1
These nights will be online for anyone to attend. Families, children, students, artists and any community member that would like to be part can join in. Artists Wendy DesChene and Jeff Schmuki will set up a mothing tent and video chat from our own backyard and be available to interact, share, and talk with anyone who wants to join. They will show those that join us the moths that have landed on our sheet, as well as answer questions or just chat about environmental issues. Participants can come and go to the feed as often as they want, staying the whole night or just checking in periodically.
If on-line viewers and participants decide to moth along with DesChene and Schmuki, they can share what has landed on their sheet with others. The moths in both locations will be different so we will be able to see the variety in the two ecosystems. Each mothing night will last about 3 hours from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. The start time will be determined by the sunset at the location as moths mostly come to the lights when it is dark.
Week 1 (September 21-24) is geared toward K-12 students, though all are welcome.
