Faculty Cafe: Dr. Susan Willson on Conservation of the Evening Grosbeak
Explore Avian Conservation at the First Fall Faculty Cafe. Join us for a thought-provoking Faculty Cafe to kick off the fall semester, featuring Dr. Susan Willson and her research on one of North America's most rapidly declining songbirds

Dr. Susan Willson will present "Conservation of the Declining Evening Grosbeak with the Road to Recovery Working Group," highlighting her work with a collaborative team studying migratory connectivity in this vulnerable species.
By capturing and tagging birds on their wintering grounds in the Adirondacks with lightweight anoraks, the team is able to track their migration to breeding grounds across the Canadian boreal forest. Data from a network of stations across the northeastern U.S. and Canada helps researchers determine whether birds return to specific regions and what threats they face along the way. Understanding these patterns is essential to identifying the seasoner drivers of population decline and informing targeted conservation efforts.
Refreshments will be provided.
