Guest Speaker to Discuss Oil Fracking

Monday, September 19, 2016 - 5:30pm to 7:00pm
Carnegie Hall

Fracking led to a drilling boom that has dramatically increased U.S. oil production. Can fracking spread worldwide and help usher in an era of plenty of oil at relatively cheap prices?

Journalist and energy analyst Mason Inman will address the long-term outlook for oil, drawing on his recent book The Oracle of Oil, the first biography of geologist M. King Hubbert, known as "the father of peak oil."

Mason Inman is an award-winning journalist who has written for Science, Nature, Scientific American, and National Geographic News, covering climate and energy issues for the past several years.

His first book, The Oracle of Oil: A Maverick Geologist's Quest for a Sustainable Future was published in April by W.W. Norton.
