SLU Writers Series and WORD Studio Present Teach for America Alums Michelle Kuo '04 and Joe Wilkins '02 in conversation with Professor Jeff Frank, Professor of Education.

Michelle Kuo's award-winning memior, Reading with Patrick (2017) chronicles her experiences teaching in Arkansas. She has also taught in San Quentin Prison. Current Michelle teaches at the American University of Paris in the History, Law, and Society Program.  

Ms. Kuo will read from her memoir at 8:00 pm on March 5 in Sykes Common Room. 


Viebranz Professor Joe Wilkins taught for TFA in Mississippi. He is the author of Fall Back Down When I Die (2019), The Mountain and the Father (2013), and three collections of poetry. He directs the creative writing program at Linfield College and is the SLU Viebranz Professor of Creative Writing for 2019/2020.


SLU Education Professor Frank researches liberal education. He is the author of Teaching in the Now (2019) and Being a Presence for Students (2019).

Professor Frank was selected for the Owen D. Young Faculty Award by the senior class of 2019.
