Danielle is a pre-health student interested in a career in the medical field. She is specifically looking to become a nurse practitioner and specialize in women's health. She is also exploring midwifery as a potential career plan.
In June 2016, she will be studying abroad in Nairobi, Kenya as part of the Delivering Health Care in a Developing Country program. After the three-week program, she will be staying an extra week to intern at the Fremo birthing center in the area to get extended hands-on experience of obstetrics in a developing country.
Over the course of her senior year, she is planning to conduct an independent research project looking into the choice of home births with midwives vs. more traditional options such as giving birth in hospitals and clinics alongside OBGYNs. She will be interning with a local midwife and will be working alongside Jane Kring, MD to conduct this research.
Danielle applied for the CSTEP program because she thinks it is a great way to get more involved on campus and learn about campus activities and internship opportunities.
