Schuckers Receives NSF Grant

The National Science Foundation awarded Michael Schuckers, Associate Professor of Statistics and Director of the Martha E. '62 and Gregg E. Peterson Quantitative Resource Center at St. Lawrence University, a grant of $49,652 to create and develop, with collaborators, a workshop and handbook for mathematics and science professionals at colleges.

Professor Schuckers will work with Grace Coulombe, Director of the Mathematics and Statistics Workshop at Bates College, and Mary O'Neill, Director of the Quantitative and Symbolic Reasoning Center at Hamilton College, on the project. All have been directors of their respective institutions' quantitative and math-support centers for at least five years.

The July 2013 workshop will bring together leaders of quantitative and math-support centers at a variety of higher education institutions to begin the process of developing materials and infrastructure to outline best practices and procedures for the centers.  The workshop will take place in conjunction with the Mathematical Association of America's "MathFest" in Hartford, Connecticut.
