Why did you choose SLU?

I am a huge supporter of the liberal arts curriculum (which is a system very different from in my home country), particularly the Global Studies department.

What do you like most/enjoy most about SLU?

The small campus offers opportunities for intimate and significant relationships with professors, unique opportunities to embark on new and challenging extracurricular opportunities, and space for you to develop your own initiatives and projects.

CBL courses taken:

I took an introduction to Sociology course focused on “Civic Engagement”, my placement was at the St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility.

Why did you apply to be a CM:

I consider it integral to connect our experiences inside and outside of the classroom. Especially, finding ways in which our past and future experiences interlink with what we are taught in class. I think one of the best ways to demonstrate this common-ground is through community based learning. I applied to be a CM to take part in facilitating this connectivity, particularly looking forward to being inspired by the way community members and students establish innovative and beneficial symbiotic relationships.

Why should every student take a CBL course during their time at SLU?

I think it is paramount to link academia and action. To understand the various ways in which studying and learning is not limited to educational institutions, but transcend them. Additionally, it makes space for the important co-construction of spaces and relationships between St.Lawrence students and local community members.

As a new CM,
