Fun fact: This is my third year working for the CBL office

Why did you choose SLU?
I choose SLU because of the tight-knit community that SLU is based upon. I love being able to walk to class and see so many people I know on a personal level.

What do you like most/enjoy most about SLU?
My favorite part about SLU is that there is always an event or an experience to be had no matter the weather or time of day!

CBL courses taken:
What’s So Great About Outdoor Education (FRPG 2055CBL)

Why did you apply to be a CM:
I applied to become a community mentor because I wanted to be able to provide students with the same experience that I had when I participated in my CBL. The ability to be able to help out in the community in ways that you would have never thought possible.

Why should every student take a CBL course during their time at SLU?
Every student should take a CBL course at their time at SLU because it is a completely unique experience that you will only be able to have here at SLU. CBL is based upon experiential learning which combines what you learn in the classroom with real world applications that are able to benefit our local community. This allows you to learn a technique in the classroom and then be able to apply it to a real-world situation.

The most rewarding part of being a CM is the ability to teach people the value of volunteering and giving back to your local community. This job and the opportunities provided by the CBL office allow one to escape the St. Lawrence bubble and meaningfully help out people in ways that you would have never thought possible! Being a member of the CBL program has been one of my most important accomplishments while being at SLU.
