New High-Performance Computer Will Enable Chemistry Calculations

Working with a team of faculty from Computer Science, Statistics, and Biology, the Chemistry Department’s Dr. Adam Hill recently won a grant for $236,477 from the National Science Foundation’s Major Research Instrumentation program to purchase a new high-performance computer. Dr. Hill and his students will use this machine to calculate the behaviors of materials that capture sunlight and react with carbon dioxide from the air to produce liquid fuels, a process called artificial photosynthesis.
