The St. Lawrence University Annual Candlelight Service is one of the beloved traditions here in the North Country. This year is our 99th Annual Candlelight Service! While we won’t be able to gather in Gunnison Memorial Chapel as we normally would, Laurentians everywhere are invited to virtually share the spirit of goodwill and community with friends and loved ones around the world.
This year, University Chaplain Shaun Whitehead will share inspiring words as we rebroadcast the 2017 service. Though the Laurentian community is still saddened by the passing of The Rev. Kathleen Buckley earlier this year, a special gift of this rebroadcast will be seeing her again as she will offer the Welcome and Benediction. The Candlelight Service held a special place in Kathleen’s heart. We have dedicated this service in memory of her.
Please join us this Wednesday, December 9, @ 9:00 p.m.
THE CAROLS AND READINGS WILL FILL YOU WITH JOY!
Next year will be the 100th anniversary of our beloved Candlelight Service. And it is our hope that one day, Gunnison Memorial Chapel will be full of candles and community again. But until then, remember that “We have lit a candle in the wilderness that will never be extinguished.” The light still shines, for it is within!
