Marissa is a senior this fall and a third-year peer advising intern from Akron, New York. She is a Biology and Environmental Studies combined major, with a minor in Public Health. Marissa intends to pursue a graduate program in environmental health and eventually a career investigating the effects of climate change and pollution on the health of humans. She has participated in on campus research with Alex Schreiber involving endocrine disruption and frogs, and is now working along-side Dr. Sarah Ashpole to continue research regarding amphibian development. Previously, Marissa worked as a Stream Visual Assessment intern with Buffalo-Niagara River Keeper; a non-profit organization that protects the quality of the waterways of western New York. This summer, as a Water Quality and Life Support intern with the husbandry team at the Audubon Aquarium of the Americas in New Orleans, she performed water testing and maintenance for the facility. Marissa appreciates the unique experience her fellow peers have had while at SLU and enjoys helping them prepare for more exciting endeavors in the future!
