Laurentians in Residence highlights the power of the Laurentian network through alumni and student interactions during a two-day in-residence program. Each semester Laurentian leaders return to campus to connect with students through classroom presentations, networking and informal conversations, and an interactive career panel discussion. This fall, four alumni will be on campus on October 17th and 18th showcasing the power of connections, a priority in The Campaign for Every Laurentian, as they speak with students about their careers, share experiences and advice, and offer insight into life after St. Lawrence.
This program is sponsored, in part, by the Alumni Executive Council, and is a collaboration between University Advancement, Career Services, and the Student Alumni Association.
Panelist Biographies
Dr. Timothy Fullagar ’82
Neurosurgeon, Ballad Health Medical Associates
Dr. Timothy Fullagar ’82 is a Neurosurgeon with Ballad Health Medical Associates. Board certified in neurosurgery, Tim has special interest in the general neurosurgical management of cervical and lumbar spine disorders, peripheral nerve conditions, and the treatment of intracranial pathology. As a member of the Society for Neuro-Oncology, Tim has participated in numerous clinical trials involving the surgical treatment of brain tumors and postoperative chemotherapy. Tim is also the director of the Brain Tumor Program at Johnson City Medical Center in Tennessee, a member of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, and Past-President of the Tennessee Neurological Society. Prior to relocating to Tennessee, he served at the Colorado Neurologic Institute, Englewood, CO.
Tim has been published in several Journals regarding his work on the treatment of brain tumors, and has conducted numerous poster presentations in the U.S. and internationally. He received his doctorate of medicine from the Medical College of Virginia, Richmond, and completed a neurosurgical residency with the Semmes Murphey Clinic in Memphis through the University of Tennessee’s Health Science Center. He is board certified with the American Board of Neurological Surgery/Neurological Surgery. Tim received his Bachelor’s degree in Government from St. Lawrence University in 1982, and participated in the Kenya study abroad program.
Serving his nation with fifteen years of duty in the United States Naval Reserve, Tim completed his military career achieving the rank of Commander. Dr. Fullagar enjoys outdoor activities, hiking and camping.
Molly Shubert Hann '03
Associate Attorney, Fischer, Bessette, Muldowney & McArdle
Molly Shubert Hann '03 is an associate attorney with Fischer, Bessette, Muldowney & McArdle, in Tupper Lake, NY, assisting clients in the areas of real estate, estate planning and probate, municipal law, workers' compensation, and social security disability. Previously, she was the Deputy Public Defender for Essex County, NY, where she represented indigent clients facing criminal charges.
Born and raised in Lake Placid, she was an Augsbury/North Country Scholar. She majored in Environmental Studies and Government, with a European Studies minor; highlights of her studies included a lengthy internship with Canton Mayor Robert Wells and a semester in Denmark. She was a sexual assault Advocate, worked in the Brush Art Gallery, was the philanthropy chair for Kappa Delta Sigma her junior year, and was a member of the Outing Club.
Currently, Molly is a member of St. Lawrence University’s Alumni Executive Council. She also serves on the Barkeater Trails Alliance board of directors and the Lake Placid Shore Owners' Association. Molly lives in Saranac Lake with her husband, Stephen Hann '97, and their two boys, where they enjoy skiing, camping, sailing, and paddling.
Julius Johnson ’89, P’22
CEO, Johnson Development
Julius Johnson ’89, P’22, is fervently passionate about International development, international Education youth programs and community development. He currently serves as the CEO of Johnson Development; a defense contracting company, and is also the Founder of the Newberry Foundation, a 501 (c) (3) operational foundation committed to providing education, building community and preserving history. Both are headquartered in Georgia.
Julius has spent the last 25 years of his life working throughout Africa, Asia and the Middle East sharing his love of people and desire to make the world a safer and fairer place. Over the course of Julius’ career he has served in leadership roles with the U.S. Department of State, the Foreign Service Institute (FSI), the Foreign Agriculture Service (FAS), the National Democratic Institute for International Affairs (NDI), Africare, and the Library of Congress. Julius also taught English in Utsunomiya-shi, Japan in the Japanese Exchange Teacher’s program.
Julius is a proud 1989 graduate of St. Lawrence University where he majored in Government and participated in the Kenya abroad program in 1988. He completed his MA degree in African Studies from Yale University in 1992 and is currently writing his dissertation for his PhD in the African Studies department at Howard University.
Julius’s sister, Angel, graduated from St. Lawrence University with her MA in counseling in 1996, and his son is currently a sophomore at SLU. Julius is married with four children and often talks about how St. Lawrence’s Kenya program served as a compass for the direction his life would take.
Elizabeth 'Eli' Pimentel ’07
Chief of Staff, Boston City Councilor Andrea J. Campbell
Born in the U.S. and raised in the Dominican Republic, Elizabeth 'Eli' Pimentel ’07 currently leads Boston City Councilor Andrea J. Campbell’s team as her Chief of Staff. Prior to this role, Eli spent 10 years working with low-income marginalized communities in legal aid and advocacy organizations. She served as an AmeriCorps member for three years, the last two with the Mass Promise Fellowship working with young people at the Youth Advocacy Department. She also managed the Citizenship Program at the Massachusetts Immigrant and Refugee Advocacy Coalition (MIRA) and coordinated the Pro Bono program for the Alameda County Bar Association in California.
After graduating from Boston Latin School, Eli earned her B.A. in Government and African Studies from St. Lawrence University and two Master's degrees, one in Human Rights Education from the University of San Francisco, another in Global Studies and International Affairs from Northeastern University. While at St. Lawrence, Eli studied abroad in Kenya and Spain, was a Presidential Diversity Scholar and Class Officer, as well as a member of Thelmo and ODK. She is committed to community empowerment, loves to learn about different cultures and philosophies, and enjoys dancing.
