Asha Johnson is a current senior, a third-year intern in the Center for Career Excellence and an international student from Nassau, Bahamas. She is also a graduate of United World College Adriatic in Italy. She intends to double major in biology and History. Asha is hoping to pursue a career as an invasive cardiologist to assist with the need for this care in her hometown as well as to improve the quality of people’s lives. Asha is involved with many clubs on campus such as Graceful Movements and Carefree Black Girls as she enjoys dancing, learning and experiencing things related to the African diaspora. She intends to gain deeper knowledge of her proposed field and next summer, do research that pertains to genetics and the prevalence of the mutated BRCA-1 gene in Bahamians leading to large rates of breast cancer. Asha is elated to work with students in order to improve their opportunities and widen their horizons as well as possibly help them to achieve any future aspirations and milestones.
