Shakespeare as Lyricist: Lecture Panel/Q&A

2/9/18 6:00pm to 7:30pm
Peterson-Kermani Performance Hall

To know music history is to know the history of the world. The parallels we draw between music, literature, foreign language, and theatre will enrich the understanding of the historical significance of Shakespeare’s works in multiple societies, as well as the collaborative nature of the arts and how artistic relationships advance the progress of humankind.

The pre-performance lecture panel will discuss the impact of Shakespeare’s songs on artists and audiences in England and continental Europe, and modern performance practice today. The lecture panel will consist of Jon L Peacock AEA; Alana Rader, AEA; Megan Marod, AEA; Samantha Stinson, soprano; David Kozisek, tenor, Julie Miller, piano.

Also offered in the symposium are a theater/vocal masterclass at 10:30 am and a performance by members of the lecture panel at 7:30 pm, both on the same date.
