We're Not In Canton Anymore
I have been involved with the Association for Campus Entertainment (ACE) since my sophomore year at SLU and as a senior I am lucky enough to serve as ACE's Vice President. ACE has one very simple goal here on campus: entertain our students! We bring big concerts to campus (GROUPLOVE this fall) and a variety of smaller events (laser tag on the quad, mechanical bulls, hypnotists and comedians). Over Halloween Weekend, five representatives from ACE, including our wonderful advisor and Associate Director of Student Activities Meg Flaherty, traveled down to Hartford, CT, for a big college entertainment conference called NACA. Meg was the only one of us that really knew what to expect, but we were all pleasantly surprised by the events and opportunities to network at the conference.
You can see in the pictures we got to meet some really awesome performers and even some exotic animals! We met Zach Wahls, who has the most popular political YouTube video from the last year where he talks about being raised by his two mothers and how he defines family. We also met many performers, including the band Carousel.
My favorite part about the weekend was exploring Hartford with my four other ACE buddies. We got to take a break from the conference and go on a sculptural walk along the river. Even though most of my friends were back on campus enjoying Halloween festivities, we were enjoying our own very unique Halloween!
