Getting into the Holiday Spirit on Campus
The holidays are here & St. Lawrence knows how to get into the spirit! From the Brewer Bookstore to campus concerts- everyone is spreading holiday cheer. Although finals are also around the corner, here are some ways to enjoy the season in the North Country.
The Bookstore is the perfect place to get in the holiday spirit & the best spot to study for finals while surrounded by cozy decorations. Not only can you buy your whole family gifts & SLU gear- but you can enjoy a delicious drink from Café. “Ho-Ho-Ho Mint Mocha” anyone?
End of the semester concerts are my favorite way to get in the holiday spirit on campus! The Singing Saints, Sinners, and Laurentian Singers all perform their holiday sets for students & the local Canton community. Their concerts never fail to impress and, in the words of the Singing Saints, you have the opportunity to “hear the blissful tones of fourteen campus cuties.”
If you want to venture off campus to celebrate winter in the North Country, Whiteface Mountain is the place to go. Students travel to Whiteface every weekend to ski, but there are so many other things to do in Lake Placid! On the mountain alone there is skiing, ice skating, bobsledding, and gondola rides. Lake Placid is a beautiful & fun town to explore, too!
Finally, what better way to celebrate the holidays than giving back to the community. On the St. Lawrence campus, there are many community service initiatives in place for the holidays. This includes the book drive, Salvation Army’s Red Kettle Campaign, the SLUServes Giving Tree, and much more. These events are open to the whole campus so everyone has a chance to give back!
