Eating Our Way Through The North Country

My favorite part of St. Lawrence are the friends that have become family over the course of my time here. At home, we have family dinner every night; the same goes when we’re all at school. Within Canton and the surrounding area, there are so many restaurants that my friends gather from our busy lives to have the perfect brunches, snacks, and dinners together. Below you’ll find my favorite hidden gems in the North Country. Eat up! 

Sergi’s Pizza 

Location: Canton, NY

Known for: Pizza  

What to expect: The iconic restaurant is the best late night snack, perfect study break in the library, and even seen at St. Lawrence’s Homecoming & Reunion weekends!

Review: I love Sergi's because it’s a huge part of the SLU/Canton culture and their employees are friendly and dependable. I love ordering it with my friends any time of the week for a good meal and to support a local business. My favorite order is a Bob’s Special, a cheese pizza with pieces of chicken and barbecue sauce." - Colby Hoffman '20 

The Bage​lry

Location: Canton, NY

Known For: Breakfast & lunch

What to expect: Known for their Instagram worthy bagels, The Bagelry is a new Canton classic.

Dunkin Donuts 

Location: Canton, NY

Known For: Coffee

What to expect: Preferably enjoyed on the quad with your best friend.

Jake's on the Water 

Location: Hannawa Falls, NY

Known for: Brunch & dinner

What to expect: Jake's on the Water is my go-to restaurant when my friends want something a little nicer. I always leave with a smile and a full belly. Their meals never fail to disappoint.

Foxy Roxy's

Location: Potsdam, NY

Known for: Breakfast

Known for: Dinner

What to expect: Located on the river in Potsdam, if you can score an outside table during the warmer months it’ll be a delicious meal with a view!

Park Bros Coffee Lab 

Location: Potsdam, NY

Known for: Picture-worthy coffee

What to expect: The trip to Potsdam is worth the atmosphere of Park Bros. It is the perfect place to get some work done on your busy Sunday.

County Seat Restaurant & Lounge

Location: Canton, NY

Known for: Brunch

What to expect: Located just down the street at the Best Western University Inn, this brunch is delicious and easy on the eyes!

Thai Cuisine 

Location: Potsdam, NY

Known for: Delicious Thai food

What to expect: This authentic Thai food is such a hidden gem.

Cactus Grill & Cantina

Location: Potsdam, NY

Known for: Best place for a birthday party or event.

What to expect: The environment at the Cactus is unbeatable. With painted walls & colorful furniture, it is ALWAYS a fun time.
