Never before in the long-spanning history of the Java Barn has a show had to be canceled due to a pandemic. Canceling a Java show was once a rare occasion; reserved for a band blowing a tire on the drive up, or a DJ not coming prepared with their equipment.
The St. Lawrence Blog
Who is St. Lawrence University? We are a group of people with countless adventures and even more stories. The St. Lawrence Blog gives our students, faculty and staff the chance to tell their tales, in their own words and in their own way. Sharing these anecdotes in one place gives our community the chance to show how creative, daring and passionate we are about what we do. Alone, these stories are powerful; together they define St. Lawrence.

Favorite Off-Campus Flavors
Some of my family members and friends think I'm a very picky eater. So when I came to St. Lawrence, I vowed to prove them wrong by not only being adventurous on campus, but by exploring new places to eat around the North Country.
Snapshots of SLU
From four weeks of studying and exploring in Copenhagen, Denmark, to spending spring afternoons relaxing and canoeing on the Grasse River in Canton, St. Lawrence University has provided me with two-and-a-half years of incredible opportunities and intellectual discoveries so far.
The Mustachio Bashio Ride
St. Lawrence is an institution where traditions are very much still alive in our day-to-day lives, so we obviously had to do something for Movember: men’s health awareness month! The result: “The Mustachio Bashio” (a.k.a. The Mustache Ride).
Swing Dance Club
During my first semester here at St. Lawrence, I was completely overwhelmed when I visited the Student Club and Organization Fair. There were so many clubs and organizations that had tables set up with club members all eager to talk about why their club was the best.
Adventures in the Outdoors
I first heard of St. Lawrence when I was 14 years old, on a three-week whitewater trip on the Rapid River located on the New Hampshire-Maine border.
Learning a New Language
Last semester, I studied abroad in Vienna, Austria as part of a St. Lawrence Program. While I was excited to experience another culture, taste different types of food and travel, I was anxious about the language barrier.
Diwali Celebration- Festival of Lights
Growing up in Nepal, I have wonderful memories of celebrating Diwali with lots of colourful lights (almost like Christmas), good food, singing and dancing.
We're Not In Canton Anymore
What is there to do at St. Lawrence? We have a student organization that helps bring numerous activities to campus each year.
Phantom in the Park
St. Lawrence's Greek organizations all come together this time of year to help children from the local community celebrate Halloween with plenty of treats.
