Writing mentors are assigned to each college of the First-Year Program in the fall, and to each First-Year Seminar in the spring. Mentors, trained as writing tutors (and trained, in the spring, to assist with research), follow their First-Year course's readings and assignments so that they can give students knowledgeable individual attention.
