| Thomas W. Budd
Professor
and Chair of Biology
“I get more enthusiastic about St. Lawrence every day,” says
biology professor Tom Budd. “We’re doing a very good
job in terms of our academic mission: ‘to provide an inspiring
and demanding undergraduate education in the liberal arts to students
selected for their seriousness of purpose and intellectual promise.’”
In 2003-04, Budd taught an introductory course in cell biology,
and various research methods courses in three different types of
microscopy. He also taught a research methods course in biochemistry.
In spring 2004, Budd completed his 33 rd year as a faculty member
at St. Lawrence, and his ninth as biology department chair. He
says he is looking forward to being a faculty director for Phase
1 of the new science facilities project, a multi-phase construction
project scheduled to begin next spring. “I’m extremely
excited about the project,” says Budd. “We’re
working with some very talented professionals. It will be a big
boost to the science departments, especially our newer programs
such as neuroscience and biochemistry.”
“I think St. Lawrence has a very bright future,” says
Budd.
