 Eve Stoddard
Professor of English and Chair of Global Studies

Stoddard has been at St. Lawrence since 1986, having earned her A.B. at Mount Holyoke and her Ph.D. at UCLA. Her current teaching interests include Irish and Caribbean literatures as well as post-colonial theory.

Professor Stoddard has been extremely active in the University’s First-Year Program and gender studies program as well in efforts to diversify the curriculum through the Cultural Encounters program. She is a past recipient of an award given annually to a faculty member who is outstanding for his or her interest in understanding the education and welfare of the St. Lawrence body as a whole.

Ed Forbes ’02 says, “Eve Stoddard is one of our most innovative and challenging faculty members. Her standards are high for good reason – she has an unfailing commitment to liberal education.”

Matt Lavin ’02 says, "Eve Stoddard is a consistent, innovative and dedicated professor. Her preparedness for the classroom is augmented by her genuine love for her subject matter and her sincere interest in students."
