Kate McCaffrey
Director of Co-Curricular
Education and Programming
As the director of St. Lawrence's newly-opened Student Center
, Kate McCaffrey is heavily involved with student programming,
including student government, Greek life, cultural events and leadership
development. She also advises class officers, plans special events
for seniors, assists in planning Family Weekend, and directs both
fall and spring orientation of new students.
McCaffrey joined the St. Lawrence staff in 2001. She received
her B.A. from the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts and her
M.A. at Colorado State University . Upon her arrival at St. Lawrence,
the Leadership Academy had been recently developed and plans for
the new Student Center were forming. McCaffrey says the opportunity
to work closely with leadership development, one of her main passions,
as well as overseeing the development of the Student Center , made
it an opportune time to become a member of the St. Lawrence community.
“The new Student Center is going to bring the St. Lawrence community
together in ways we haven't been before,” McCaffrey says. “Having
so many offices in the same building unites the campus. Students
can check their mail, get something to eat, cash a check, and attend
an organization meeting, all in one stop. It's really coming together
now and it's exciting to see that progression. Once things are
settled and all the furniture is moved in, which should be complete
by Spring Break, it will be even more comfortable than it already
is,” she adds. |
