 Alison Del Rossi
Associate Professor of Economics

Alison Del Rossi received her Ph.D in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania and received her B.A in English and Economics from the University of Delaware. She teaches all levels of undergraduate economics but her special topics courses center around law and economics and the public sector economy. More specifically, Del Rossi is interested in the interactions between individuals and government.

Del Rossi has a wide variety of research interests. Her most recent research focuses on smoking regulations and she taught a senior seminar about smoking, drinking and economics. She has also researched aspects of experimental economics such as bargaining and law. In the past, Del Rossi received the Bradbury Award, a research grant for junior faculty. This summer she is honored to be working closely with a SLU Fellow, an economics student interested in the specifics of the Japanese economy.

“ I knew after graduating that I wanted to be a teacher. The world of academia is where I am influential and where I can make an impact on the lives of others.” For this reason, in talking about St. Lawrence as an institution, she praises the fact that good teaching is valued and awarded. “There is a great balance between teaching and the opportunity to do meaningful research.” She also mentions the small class sizes and her ability to work closely with students of all abilities as another highlight of St. Lawrence University.
