Associate Director Telecommunications
Edna Dana has seen St. Lawrence
University evolve since 1981 when she started her professional
career as a clerk in the human resources
department. Since then, she has worked in student activities
department, the audio-visual department and then the telecommunications
department, where she now holds the position of associate director.
Dana
handles all telephone-related issues, such as phone bills, cell
phones, voicemail, and fax machines. She also manages the
University’s mail and
duplicating centers.
“A lot of people are afraid of technology, but you can’t
be. It’s
just something that you have to jump into with both feet,” explained
Dana. Part of her job is to “help students and the campus community make
the transition into the technological world that is the future.”
Dana
enjoys her job because it allows her to find the most efficient way to solve
challenges. She says “there need to be people who enjoy making
life easier for the students, and that is exactly what we have here at
St. Lawrence, and we are really special because of it.”
In 2001 Dana
was awarded The John P. “Jack” Taylor Distinguished
Career Service Award for her professional excellence and dedication to
the University.
