Tunde Akinmade ’06, from Salt Lake City, Utah, came to
St. Lawrence because he wanted to try something new. He knew
that he wanted to go to a small liberal arts college, and chose
the state of New York because he has family in New Jersey. “I
think St. Lawrence is a great place to make your home,” says
Akinmade.
Akinmade’s majors and two main interests are government
and economics. “I’ve always been interested in politics,
ever since I was young,” says Akinmade, “so government
came naturally as my major.” Akinmade plans to go on to
graduate school in international relations. On campus he is involved
in Model U.N., an extracurricular activity that examines international
affairs. “It’s a lot of fun, but also really academic,”
he says. “Each year we research a different country and
then attend an annual conference. Last year we researched Zimbabwe
and Macedonia, and it was very demanding.”
Akinmade is looking forward to spending the spring semester
of 2005 on St. Lawrence’s program in London, England . “I
think St. Lawrence offers outstanding study abroad opportunities,” he
says.
