Commencement Reminders

Dear Seniors,

I hope you are enjoying senior week. Here are a few last-minute reminders as you prepare for this Sunday’s Commencement ceremony!

Commencement Arrival Time:  Please remember that graduates should arrive outside of Newell Field House to line up by 9:00 am on May 21. The procession will begin at 9:40 am.

Commencement Weekend Events:  A full schedule of events is available on the Commencement website.  Please note there will be a Baccalaureate Service of Celebration in Gunnison Chapel on Sunday at 8:00 am prior to the Commencement ceremony.

Caps and Gowns:  Academic regalia may be purchased at Brewer Bookstore during Senior Week.

Tickets and Guests:  Commencement itself requires no tickets for general seating. Graduates and families may invite as many guests as you wish to attend the weekend.  If you have previously requested tickets for the special seating area for guests who have accessibility or other physical challenges, they may be picked up at the Student Center desk through the end of the day on Saturday.

Livestream of Commencement Ceremony:  Join members of the St. Lawrence community here as we celebrate the Class of 2023! A livestream of the commencement ceremony will begin Sunday, May 21 at 9:50 am.

Meals: The St. Lawrence website https://www.stlawu.edu/about/regional-accommodations provides information and links to the Best Western County Seat Restaurant and area restaurants through the Canton Chamber of Commerce and St. Lawrence Chamber of Commerce websites. Reservations are encouraged. Dana Dining Hall will host a luncheon on Sunday from 1:00 to 3:00 pm at which Class of 2023 members are our guests and others will pay $9.75 per person for age 6 and older and free for those younger than 6.

Photography:  Genesee Photo Systems captures the moment each student receives his or her diploma.  Genesee will send proofs directly to students’ homes (through postal mail or email) and families may elect to purchase photos directly from this firm.  Families are invited to photograph or videotape the awarding of degrees from the designated area at the left side of the stage and should not impede the academic procession.

Graduation Checklist:  Make sure you have completed graduation requirements and obligations.

Keep in Touch:  SLUNews, a bi-weekly digital newsletter, and the St. Lawrence magazine will be automatically delivered to your email and home address, respectively.  That said, though your SLU email address will be functional for one year following graduation, be sure to update your email and address by simply emailing laurentians@stlawu.edu.  Visit the Alumni website for the latest on upcoming Laurentian events in various cities across the country!
