Old Business:

  1. Reported to Sgt. Locy: “This weekend I was approached by an elderly alumnus who wanted to make a complaint/safety improvement suggestion.  The chapel has a handicap ramp however; none of the entrances have railings. She stated either double railings or just even one side of the stairs would be of great assistance. She stated that a large number of elderly and or disabled community members, parents and alumni attend events at the chapel and some of them need help from other people, as there are no railings. The railings would also assist everyone when the winter kicks in and snow/ice are around the stairs.” There were some challenges created for handicap access when new parking spots were created. The ADA entrance is on the ODY side of the chapel and people do not realize it is there. Some concern was voiced about the entrance being further away for people with mobility issues but were reassured that it is close to the main entrance. With some new signage, we will be sure that people needing the accessibility will know where it is. In addition, there was discussion about obtaining estimates for railing (s) to be added at the main entrance for assistance in inclement weather. Sharmela asked if the ADA doors are being checked, AVP Gagnon confirmed that they are being checked weekly and added that many times when people report that they are not working, it is actually outside of open building hours and access should not be allowed. CLOSED
  1. Campus reminder email about awareness of slippery conditions and reporting them to Facilities: Suna/Facilities will send out a campus reminder on this topic. Posters are being made as well. CLOSED
  1. Employee accident reporting procedures: An email to the campus community regarding prompter reporting of accidents on campus; 24 hours should be the reporting time; reports are coming in 30 days and later. Traci mentioned that Lorie MacKenzie and Karl Schonberg could share at Faculty and Chairs meetings as well. CLOSED.
  1. St. Lawrence University Integrated Pest Management Plan: Suna sent draft out just prior to meeting and asked that it be reviewed and then discussed in final at the February Safety Committee meeting.

Future Meetings:

The meetings will continue to be the first Friday of the month: 2/4/22, 3/4/22, 4/1/22 and 5/6/22. The meetings will be conducted via Zoom until in-person meetings are approved when

conditions allow and then will be held in the Torrey Conference Room, located in the Diana Torrey Health and Counseling Center from 8am-9am.

Meeting was adjourned at 8:20 a.m.
