Subject: In Memory: Eugene Yerden
With great sadness I report the death today of Eugene Yerden, a cleaner with our Facilities Operations staff. Eugene was stricken at work early this morning, was transported by the Canton Rescue Squad to the Canton-Potsdam Hospital, and passed away.
Eugene joined the St. Lawrence staff in 2001, and served as a cleaner in Lee Hall, Eben Holden Center, Owen D. Young Library, Appleton Arena, and most recently in the theme cottages at 58 Park and 1 Lincoln Street, as well as at the Center for Teaching and Learning at 62 Park Street. He took great pride, and was much appreciated, for his extra efforts to make the theme cottages a home away from home for our students. His hard work and willingness to assist students and colleagues brought Eugene the admiration of those who knew him. He will be missed.
Eugene’s wife Leslee also serves St. Lawrence as a general laborer in Facilities Operations. Ann and I extend our deepest sympathies to Leslee and their family, friends and co-workers. When we have more information about memorial plans, we will share those plans with you.
