DRAFT
· Create a standard alcohol and drug risk management policy
that complies with current state, university, and national fraternal
policies.
· Draft a document listing the pros and cons of substance
free living utilizing national resources and make a recommendation
to the University and Greek Community.
Why don't members want to live in?
What makes living environments undesirable?
What makes alcohol prevalent in daily lives of Greeks?
What are some National programs in relation to alcohol use within the chapter?
· Develop strategies for raising fraternity averages to,
at, or above the upper class men's average gpa and improving new
member scholarship performance across the board.
What scholarship programs exist?
Why are men's averages so low?
What is it about being a member of a house that detracts from academics?
Incorporate involvement of Gamma Sigma Alpha
(Greek honorary)
· For the women, what is it about the new member education period that
causes their gpa to drop.
What are nationals scholarship programs?
What are our chapters missing?
· Assess current reasons for apparent issues (hazing, social
behavior, gpa drops) during the pledging semester by conducting
interviews with new members and new member educators.
· Create a set of shared values for all eight organizations
which they can subscribe to and by which they can live. These should
be approved through and/or created by the Panhellenic and InterFraternity
Councils and will utilize the work already begun by the Shared
Values committee.
· Conduct focus groups with students, faculty, staff and
community members that will highlight current perceptions of the
Greek community.
Community Connections- how does the Greek community currently connect to the
SLU community?
Figure out how the Greek community can continue to create relations among Greek
members and the rest of the SLU community.
· Develop strategies for increasing recruitment while at
the same time raising campus awareness about recruitment processes
and how they differ for the men and women's organizations.
