Subject: In Memory: Hollis C. Shelmidine
I write today to share with you the sad news that Hollis C. Shelmidine, who retired from the University in 1994 as communications engineer in the computer services department, died at his home on County Route 27 on Tuesday, February 2.
An employee of St. Lawrence for 18 years, Hollis worked in audio-visual services from 1976 to 1991, when the department became part of computer services. I know that many of you remember working with him as the University moved toward integrating technology more fully into the learning experience.
His survivors include his wife, Carolyn; daughters Nanci, Lori and Kate; and a son, Gregory. Calling hours are at the Lawrence Funeral Home in Canton from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, February 4. The funeral will be Friday, February 5, at 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Church.
Lynn and I join with the Laurentian community in sending condolences to his family and many friends.
