St. Lawrence University trustees residing in California, and their
respective spouses, have made gifts to the University that total
over $6.25 million, all for the next comprehensive campaign. Their
gifts bring the next comprehensive campaign's total to over $52.1
million.

Governor Matt Blunt has appointed Lewis Mills '81, of Jefferson
City, to a task force charged with conducting a review of state
and federal eminent domain laws and establishing criteria that
state and local government entities will employ when the use of
eminent domain is proposed. The creation of the task force comes
in reaction to the recent related decision by the United States
Supreme Court. For

Devon Energy Corporation has announced that William A. Van Wie '67 has been appointed
to the new position of vice president and general manager, exploration. He will be responsible
for coordinating Devon's global exploration activities. Van Wie was previously vice president
and general manager of Devon's Gulf Division. He will remain in Houston, Texas. For more

Professor of Global Studies Vernadette Gonzalez was recently interviewed
by community radio station KBOO in Portland, Oregon, about the global
trafficking of women and an article she co-authored, "Filipinas.com:
Wives, Workers and Whores on the Cyberfrontier" (published in the
anthology AsianAmerica.Net: Ethnicity, Nationalism, and Cyberspace).
The program is scheduled to air on Tuesday, July 26, from 1 to 2
