Science Project Update: A Sampling of Sustainability
Features: Heating and Cooling Systems
The Sarah Johnson Redlich '82 Hall
of Science will have many features to assure its environmental
sustainability. These are a few examples for the heating an cooling
systems:
Air-conditioning chillers will be high efficiency evaporative
cooling design - will save $25,000 per year operating energy
and offer a pay back period of four to five years.
Room air exchanges will be monitored according to occupancy
and time of day/week and will be adjusted to minimum during periods
when rooms are not occupied.
Intelligent fume hoods in labs will have variable flow controls to
reduce heating/cooling loads
