The women's hockey team continued its storybook second semester by winning the program's first-ever ECAC Championship Saturday, with a 3-1 win over No. 3 Cornell at Cornell. The victory avenged the only two losses the Saints have suffered since December 2, a stretch that has seen them go 18-2-1. The Saints earned a spot in the title game with a 2-1 overtime victory over No. 8 Harvard on Friday, a team that had beaten SLU 7-1 and 6-1 earlier in the year. St. Lawrence started the weekend No. 10 in the country, but were given the fifth seed in the NCAA playoffs. They will travel to play No. 4 Boston College, who the Saints beat 2-1 in January. Men's hockey didn't have the same level of success in the ECAC playoffs, dropping both of its preliminary round games at home to Dartmouth, 6-3 and 4-1. Indoor track competed in the ECAC Indoor Championships in New York City. For the men's team, Jamal Samaroo '15 set a school record in the triple jump and for the women, Eliza Bell '13 was fourth in the high jump. The past weekend saw the beginning of the spring sports schedule, as men's lacrosse opened its season with a 7-6 win over Haverford. Men's tennis lost to Skidmore 9-0 and Ithaca 5-4, while women's tennis beat Ithaca 9-0. More Saints Sports |
