| Former SLU Prof To Discuss Research On Student Internet, Cell Phone Use St. Lawrence University Class of 1981 graduate Jennifer B. MacGregor taught a First-Year Seminar course in which she required students to "unplug" from the Internet, cell phones and other electronic communications for two weeks. She'll discuss what she learned from that experience in a presentation called "I Text, Therefore I Am: The Computer-Mediated Identity" on Wednesday, November 30, at 7 p.m. in Eben Holden on campus. | SLU's Laurentian Singers Offer Hispanic, American Music For The Season St. Lawrence University's Laurentian Singers will perform two concerts of Hispanic and American music for the season, titled "Navidad Nuestra." Performances will be Friday, December 2, at 7:30 p.m. at the Russell Opera House and Saturday, December 3, at 2 p.m. in Peterson-Kermani Peformance Hall on campus. John Johnston '12, Steve Kiplagat '12 and Jenna Hulton '12 earned All America honors as both the men's and women's cross country teams placed eighth at the nationals in Winneconne, WI. Johnston placed third and Kiplagat 12th overall in the men's race, while Hulton placed 34th in the women's race. Men's soccer suffered its first and only loss of the season in the third round of the NCAA Division III tournament, dropping a heartbreaking 2-1 overtime loss to Oneonta. Men's hockey has gone 2-2 in the last two weeks, beating Harvard 4-3 and Michigan Tech 3-2 and bookending those wins with 3-1 losses to Dartmouth and Michigan Tech. Women's hockey beat Dartmouth 2-0, but has lost three straight since, 6-1 to Harvard and 5-3 and 4-1 to Mercyhurst. Women's basketball opened its season with a 76-69 win over Mount St. Mary in the first round of the Amherst Tournament, but was defeated 93-63 by the host team (the No. 1 team in the country) in the title game. Men's basketball started the year 2-1, beating Oswego and Colby Sawyer, but lost to Keene State. Riding continued its strong season with its fourth straight win at home, then tied host Cazenovia for first place the next day. More Saints Sports |
