Dinty Moore At St. Lawrence In Writers Series, December 2
Author Dinty Moore will speak and read from recent works in an appearance at St. Lawrence University on Thursday, December 2, at 8 p.m. in the Common Room of Sykes Residence Hall. The event, part of the University's Writers Series, is open to the public, free of charge.
|Laurentian Singers' Holiday Concert & Carol Sing December 3 and 4
The Laurentian Singers 11th annual Holiday Concert and Carol Sing will be on Friday, December 3, at 7 p.m. in the Russell Opera House and on Saturday, December 4, at 2 p.m. in Gunnison Memorial Chapel on campus at St. Lawrence University. Both are open to the public, free of charge.
|St. Lawrence Organ Recital Offers Cathedral Music Of France & England
"Music of the Cathedrals of France and England" is the theme for the next organ recital at the lunch hour in St. Lawrence University's Gunnsion Memorial Chapel, featuring Musician-in-Residence Sondra Goldsmith Proctor, with the Ad Hoc Singers. It will take place at 12:15 p.m. on Friday, December 10.
|Emma Coronado '12 Awarded Geological Institute Scholarship
Emma Coronado '12, of Cazenovia, NY, has been awarded the American Geological Institute's Minority Scholarship for the academic year 2010-2011. A geology major, Coronado is a graduate of Cazenovia High School.

Peterson Professor of Mathematics, Computer Science and Statistics Duncan Melville was quoted in the New York Times on November 22, 2010, about a display at the Institute for the Study of the Ancient World; Melville spoke at a symposium marking the opening of the exhibition. The story also ran on the History News Wire.
|Professor of Gender Studies and Sexuality R. Danielle Egan, co-principal investigator of an assessment project at St. Lawrence, is quoted in the November 23, 2010 edition of the Measuring Stick blog at The Chronicle of Higher Education.
Dana Professor of Economics Steven Horwitz was a guest on CNBC's "Street Signs" program on November 22, 2010, speaking about enhanced screening techniques of the TSA over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend. Horwitz's comments were picked up by numerous blogs on the Internet, and Horwitz was interviewed for several Internet-based news sites and radio programs. An essay by Horwitz, on some things about the economy to be thankful for, was the leading opinion piece in the Philadelphia Inquirer on November 25, 2010, Thanksgiving day. A piece with a similar theme, also by Horwitz, was the Academic Minute podcast featured on WAMC, the public radio station in Albany, NY, on November 26, 2010.

Women's Hockey Shuts Out Vermont
Gradutate student Maxie Weisz made 11 saves as the women's hockey team downed Vermont 3-0 in a non-league game Tuesday, the only event of the week for SLU teams. Fresh off her national championship weekend, women's cross country star Wendy Pavlus '11 was named the national female athlete of the year by the US Track & Field and Cross Country Association; she was also nominated for the Collegiate Women Sports Athlete of the Year Award, for the second year in a row. St. Lawrence is ranked 17th in the initial Division III Learfield Sports Directors' Cup standings.
