Fourth Book In SLU Prof's Series Published, Offering Translation Of Chinese Tales
A new book by St. Lawrence University Piskor Professor of English Sidney Sondergard, the fourth in a series of six, continues his work on the first complete English translation of short stories by 18th-century Chinese writer Pu Songling. Eventually, almost 500 stories will be published in English translations by Sondergard; the first two volumes of the six-volume set, Strange Tales from Liaozhai, were published in 2008, and the third was published in 2009. All of the books, published by Jain Publishing, feature illustrations by St. Lawrence students and graduates.

Gerald Benjamin '65, Distinguished Professor of political science and director of the Center for Research, Regional Education, and Outreach at State University of New York at New Paltz, is the co-author of a new book published by SUNY Press, titled Tales from the Sausage Factory: Making Laws in New York State.

Athletics News
Football gave first-year Coach Mark Raymond his first victory by downing Kings Point 13-6, keeping the Hoffman Cup for St. Lawrence. Men's soccer continued its unbeaten streak by downing Vassar 2-1 in overtime and playing to a scoreless tie with RPI. Women's soccer lost to Vassar 2-1, but rallied to down RPI 2-1 in overtime. Field hockey won both of its games, 4-1 over Vassar and 3-1 over RPI. Jeff Duggan '13 placed fifth to lead the men's golf team to a fourth-place finish in the Liberty League Championship. Aimee Caligiore '13 was fourth for women's golf at the Mt. Holyoke Invitational. Hillary Drewery '12 and Stephanie Finn '11 advanced to the finals at the ITA Tournament for women's tennis.
