SUNY Canton Honors President Emeritus Sullivan
St. Lawrence University President Emeritus Daniel F. Sullivan was awarded an honorary degree by SUNY Canton at its Commencement on May 22, 2010, recognizing his contributions to higher education and to the local community.

Alumni Reunion Weekend At St. Lawrence June 3-6
St. Lawrence University will welcome graduates to campus for Alumni Reunion Weekend, June 3 through 6, with a schedule that includes variety of educational, recreational and social events, including seminars; tours of the campus and excursions to area attractions; a talk by President William L. Fox; and the traditional Parade of Classes.

Canton Fire & Rescue Honors Six Seniors
Six members of the Class of 2010 who were also volunteers with the Canton Fire and Rescue department were given congratulations and thanks for their service following Commencement. Each received a plaque of appreciation.

Leah Farrar '11 Wins Award For Academic Achievement In Denmark
Leah Farrar '11, of Pittsford, NY, won the Award of Academic Excellence at the Danish Institute for Study Abroad (DIS), while studying in Denmark during the spring 2010 semester. Over 600 students from colleges across the country were eligible for the award, given each semester for outstanding academic achievement.

Prof. McConnell Part Of Peace Conference In Nicaragua
Assistant Professor of Government Shelley McConnell participated in the Social Science Research Council's (SSRC) Conflict Prevention and Peace Forum in Managua, Nicaragua, May 11, 2010. Participants briefed the United Nations Resident Coordinator and his staff on electoral politics in Nicaragua.

Research conducted by Associate Professor of Economics Alison Del Rossi was quoted in a May 7, 2010 story in the Las Vegas Review-Journal about a record award by a jury in a lawsuit. Del Rossi has researched and tracked awards made by juries in the United States over the past several decades. |
Dana Professor of Economics Steven Horwitz made a second appearance on Fox Business Networks' "Freedom Watch," on May 18, 2010, discussing personal liberties and the United States Constitution.

Senior Student-Athletes Honored at Awards Dinner
Five senior student-athletes were honored at the annual dinner held by the Athletic Department May 11. Eric Jones '10 and Alyssa Pirnelli '10 were named the outstanding senior athletes; Ben von Reyn '10 and Hillary St. John '10 were named outstanding scholar-athletes and Chelsea Nuffer '10 was the recipient of the Daniel F. Sullivan Athletic Leadership and Community Service Award. In addition, cross country and track coach Mike Howard was named the coach of the year.
