Randall Hill Gets Top Prof Vote Of SLU Seniors For The Second Time
St. Lawrence University Associate Professor of Performance and Communication Arts Randall T. Hill is the recipient of this year's Owen D. Young Outstanding Faculty Award, as voted by members of the senior class. The award is the only one given to faculty that is chosen by students.

St. Lawrence University's Dining Services has been honored for the fifth straight year by the National Association of College and University Food Services (NACUFS) for being a national leader in campus dining.

Alumni in the News Mo Cassara '97 Named Hofstra Head Men's Basketball Coach
R. Morgan "Mo" Cassara '97 has been named head men's basketball coach at Hofstra University. Cassara, a native of Canton, NY, had been an assistant coach at Boston College since 2006.

Trisha Smrecak '06 Co-Author Of Climate Change Book
Trisha Smrecak '06, Ithaca, is co-author of the new book Climate Change - Past, Present, and Future: a Very Short Guide, published in April 2010 by the Museum of the Earth, Paleontological Research Institute. Smrecak is a paleontologist at the organization.

Maureen Missert '79 Chairs Claxton-Hepburn Board
Maureen Leonard Missert '79 has been elected chair of the Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center Board of Directors. She is the second woman to chair the board in its history.

David Blanchard '80 To Lead Canton U-U Church
The Reverend David Blanchard '80 has been named to lead the the Unitarian Universalist Church of Canton, beginning August 1. Blanchard's first settled ministry was at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Lexington, Kentucky, where he was ordained. He also served the First Unitarian Universalist Society of Syracuse, from 1989 to 2006, and most recently has been consulting minister for the Unitarian Universalist Church of Utica.

Two SLU Riders Place second at Nationals
Jordan Koivu '11 and Suzanne Snyder '11 each placed second at the IHSA National championships for the Saints riding team. Women's crew competed at the ECACs and all three of the team's boats advanced to the finals, earning a fifth place and two sixth places. For men's crew, the novice eight placed second in the petite finals. Women's lacrosse saw its season end in the Liberty League semifinals after an 11-9 loss to Union. Men's lacrosse also dropped its league seminfinal, 9-5 to No. 15 RPI. The Saints saw a streak of four-straight league crowns end.

The Pittsburgh Penguins and Ray Shero '84, the team's general manager, can clinch its Eastern Conference semifinal series with the Montreal Canadiens, coached by Jacques Martin '75, with a win in Montreal tonight. The Penguins, the defending Stanley Cup champions, hold a 3-2 lead in the best-of-seven series. |
