St. Lawrence To Award Honorary Degrees To Three
United States Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor, the Reverend Peter J. Gomes and poet, publisher and author Chase Twichell will be awarded honorary degrees by St. Lawrence University at its Commencement, on Sunday, May 16 at 10 a.m. All three will offer remarks at the ceremony.

SLU Professor Alan Draper Awarded Fulbright Distinguished Chair
St. Lawrence University Professor of Government Alan L. Draper has been appointed a Fulbright Distinguished Chair, providing him the opportunity to conduct research and teach at the University of Innsbruck in Austria during the spring 2011 semester.

Canoe Authority James Raffan To Give Talk At SLU
James Raffan, executive director of the Canadian Canoe Museum and an authority on canoes and the wilderness experience, will give a talk titled "National Treasure: Canoes, Canada and the Wonders of the Canadian Canoe Museum" on Tuesday, March 30, at 7:30 p.m. in Herring-Cole at St. Lawrence University. The event is open to the public, free of charge.

A free "noon in the chapel" recital of "Music for Brown-Baggers" will be held on Friday, March 26, at 12:15 p.m. in Gunnison Memorial Chapel at St. Lawrence University. The event is open to the public and those attending are encouraged to bring a lunch to enjoy along with the performance.

Spring Break Includes Study And Service
"Alternative" spring break travel was a popular option for St. Lawrence students this year, with a group traveling to Tennessee to work on a Habitat for Humanity project, a group volunteering at a community center in Philadelphia and a group conducting study in China, related to a course.

An essay by Information Technology Co-CIO Sondra Smith, titled "Alleviating Assessment Anxiety," was published on the Techne blog of the National Institute for Technology in Liberal Education's Web site on March 15, 2010.
On March 15, 2010, the Utica (NY) Observer-Dispatch published a profile of Taylor Moon '12, a member of the equestrian team and a resident of Sauquoit, in the Utica area.
The Times Union in Albany (NY) published a profile of Joseph Racette '85, an ecologist with the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, on March 15, 2010.

Hockey season ends with losses at ECAC Final Four
The men's hockey season came to end this weekend after a 3-1 loss to Union in the ECAC Semifinals at Albany, and then a 3-0 loss to Brown in the third-place game. Women's lacrosse stayed unbeaten at 4-0 with an easy 18-3 win over Elmira. Men's tennis extended its win streak to six games with 9-0 victories over RPI and RIT. Women's tennis, ranked 19th in the country, inproved to 8-0 with wins over RPI and RIT. The riding team advanced six riders to the Zone II Championships at the regionals on campus last weekend. Competing at the men's swimming nationals, Chris Woolston '10 was 17th in the 200 backstroke, 22nd in the 100 backstroke and 32nd in the 200 free.
