St. Lawrence University Commencement Is May 17
St. Lawrence University will hold Commencement on Sunday, May 17, at 10 a.m. on Creasy Commencement Commons, or in Appleton Arena in the event of inclement weather. If we need to move inside, we'll make that decision and announce it through e-mail and the web site Saturday afternoon, May 16.
The Commencement weekend schedule will be distributed through campus posters and on-line at the Commencement web site, rather than the usual printed brochures, saving paper and small amount of money.
|President Sullivan Receives Honorary Degree from Clarkson
St. Lawrence University President Daniel F. Sullivan received an honorary doctor of science degree at Clarkson University's 116th Commencement Sunday.
| Exoo Picked As Outstanding Faculty Member By SLU's Senior Class
Professor of Government Calvin F. Exoo is the recipient of the 2009 Owen D. Young Outstanding Faculty Award, as voted by members of the senior class. The award is the only one given to faculty that is chosen by students.
SLU Gallery Exhibiting Nature Photos By Library Assistant
An exhibition called "Wild Things: Nature Photography by Melissa J. Burchard" will be in the Richard F. Brush Art Gallery at
St. Lawrence University from May 28 through July 9. There will be a reception for Burchard on Saturday, June 20, at 3 p.m. in the gallery.
| Tanner Fellows For 2009 Announced
Seven students were awarded Tanner Fellowships for 2009, encouraging students "to enlarge their capacities to make a positive and creative mark on the world by enabling them to design and pursue educational experiences not otherwise available to them."
Saints Sports Highlights
The men's lacrosse team won its first-ever NCAA Division III Tournament game at North Country Field, 14-7 over Nazareth Wednesday, but dropped a 15-11 decision to No. 7 ranked Middlebury in the second round Saturday. The game was tied 6-6 at halftime, but Middlebury outscored the Saints 7-0 in the third quarter to put the game away. In women's track, Alyssa Pirinelli '10 advanced to sixth nationally when she improved her own school record in the hammer throw at the Saint Twilight Qualifier Saturday. For the men's track team, Eric Jones '10 also improved both is own school record in the hammer and his chances at an NCAA berth. Ryan Duff '10, Steve Bodnar '09 and Tim Harris '10 earned Liberty League baseball all-star honors, while softball players Molly Swan '10, Amy Atkins '10 and Meg Goodemote '11 also earned all-conference honors.

Helicopter Video View of the North Country!
St. Lawrence collaborated with several regional institutions to commission a helicopter video of the North Country. Enjoy the video tour that begins with a bird's eye view of our varsity crew team practicing on the St. Lawrence river, then shares the Thousands Islands region, Canton, the St. Lawrence campus, the foothills of the Adirondacks, Canaras and the Upper Saranac Lake region.
