'From King To Obama' Theme For Service At St. Lawrence
A service with the theme "From King to Obama: Today's Meaning of the Movement" will be held at St. Lawrence University's Gunnison Memorial Chapel on Monday, January 19, at 5 p.m.
|Saint Michael's Warriors Dance Company In Residence At SLU
Saint Michael's Warriors Dance Company will perform in concert on Saturday, January 31, at 8 p.m. in Gulick Theatre at St. Lawrence University, as part of a day-long residency. The event, which includes Christian rap artist Rabelz, is open to the public, free of charge.
|Novelist Lawrence Hill In St. Lawrence Writers Series February 2
Lawrence Hill, author of the novels Some Great Thing and Any Known Blood, will speak and read from recent work in an appearance at St. Lawrence University on Monday, February 2, at 8 p.m. in the Common Room of Sykes Residence Hall. The event, part of the Writers Series, is open to the public, free of charge.
| Ogdensburg Attorney Makes Gift
Ogdensburg Attorney Preston Carlisle has made an annual gift of $10,000 for the Carlisle Athletic Fund.
|Prof. Husinec Named To Geological Society Grants Panel
Assistant Professor of Geology Antun Husinec has been appointed to the Geological Society of America's Committee on Research Grants as Member-at-Large, for the term July 1, 2009 to June 30, 2012.
|Presidential Inauguration Broadcasts
The inauguration of President Barack Obama will be broadcast on big screen in two campus locations Tuesday, January 20. Visit the Winston Room in the Student Center beginning 10 a.m., or bring your lunch to the Brush Art Gallery and then watch in Gulick Theatre.

Dana Professor of Economics Steven Horwitz was a guest on Air America/ XM Radio's "Young Turks" show on January 12, discussing the economic crisis and President-elect Obama's proposals for rectifying it.
|Sustainability Coordinator Louise Gava was a guest on "Marc Sussman's Money Message," on Air America/XM Radio on January 10, discussing ways to save money by being more environmentally responsible.
More Laurentians in the News
Men's basketball ran its undefeated streak to five games with wins over Skidmore and Union. The Saints scored the winning basket in an 80-77 victory over Union in the waning seconds. Women's basketball defeated Skidmore, but lost to Union. Women's hockey swept its weekend series, 3-2 over Brown and 4-0 over Yale, at Appleton Arena. Men's hockey throttled Brown 6-1, but had to rally to tie Yale 2-2. Both the St. Lawrence men's track and women's track placed first at the St. Lawrence Classic. Women's swimming defeated Potsdam and lost to Hartwick, while men's swimming dropped meets to Potsdam and Hartwick.

St. Lawrence collaborated with several regional institutions to commission a helicopter video of the North Country. Enjoy the video tour that begins with a bird's eye view of our varsity crew team practicing on the St. Lawrence river, then shares the Thousands Islands region, Canton, the St. Lawrence campus, the foothills of the Adirondacks, Canaras and the Upper Saranac Lake region.
