Professor Reiff's sons will give lectures to honor their father's SLU career
The
St. Lawrence University career of the late history and government
Professor Harry Reiff, which spanned 38 years (1928-1966), will
be celebrated with presentations on Tuesday and Wednesday, October
9 and 10, by his two sons. Their topics are St. Lawrence Architecture 1856-1956, by architectural historian Daniel Reiff, and Estate Planning, by Attorney Jonathan Reiff. Both are open to the public, free of

Center for Diversity and Social Justice plans first event of the semester
The
Reverend Martin D. McLee, pastor of Boston's Union United Methodist
Church, will give a talk at St. Lawrence University on religion,
Christianity and sexual orientation on Wednesday, October 3, at
7:30 p.m., in Room 123 of the Griffiths Arts Center on campus.
It is open to the public, free of charge, and is the opening event
in a series sponsored by the Center for Diversity and Social Justice.For

A fellowship has
been established at St. Lawrence University supporting educational
travel for North Country teachers of Spanish.

Duriel Harris to give poetry reading in Syracuse
The
current season's Stone Canoe Writer's Series in Syracuse will begin
with a reading by poet and musician Duriel E. Harris, assistant
professor of English, on Saturday, October 6, at 2 p.m. at the
Delavan Art Gallery, 501 West Fayette Street, Syracuse. Harris
will read her poetry and discuss experimental projects that integrate
poetry with dance, music and painting. The event is co-sponsored
by the Community Folk Art Gallery.

A study by Associate Professor of Psychology Pamela
Thacher, showing that pulling all-nighters doesn't help improve
grades, was cited in a September 17 story in USA Today,
about sleep deprivation in college students. An item about
the story also appeared on the Chronicle of Higher Education's
daily news blog and in several regional newspapers around the nation.

Men's and women's soccer, field hockey, football and volleyball had earned wins in their contests this weekend, with football pulling out an overtime victory 49-42 against Susquehanna College in the first home Saints game of the season.
B2 Networks and St. Lawrence University Director of Athletics Margie Strait announced a multi-year partnership that will bring Saints ice hockey to broadband broadcasting. The partnership will begin this fall with home games for both men's and women's ice hockey being shown live on B2 Networks. With the addition of St. Lawrence, B2 Networks has partnerships with three members of ECAC Hockey for both men's and women's ice hockey; St. Lawrence, Brown and RPI. St. Lawrence's away games at B2 partner institutions will also be broadcast live and be available to fans worldwide.
