Gift income total reaches new record for 2006-2007
St. Lawrence University set a new gift income record in fiscal
year 2006-2007 (ending June 30, 2007), with gift income totaling
$22,897,142. The total is a 1.5 percent increase from 2005-2006,
also a record-setting year.For more |
Writers Series continues September 20
Author Robert Root will speak and read from recent works in an
appearance at St. Lawrence University on Thursday, September 20,
at 8 p.m. in the Common Room of Sykes Residence Hall on campus.

 Faculty authors celebrated at September 21 event
The Friends of Owen D. Young and Launders Libraries will hold an
event on Friday, September 21, at 4 p.m. in the Josephine Young
Room of Owen D. Young Library celebrating the publication of the
book The Good Society: An Introduction to Comparative Politics
by Professor of Government Alan L. Draper and Emeritus Professor
of Government J. Ansil Ramsay. Draper and Ramsay will speak at

Crimmel Colloquium scheduled for September 25
Noted social and cultural anthropologist
Renato Rosaldo is the keynote speaker for the 2007 Hays and Margaret
Crimmel Colloquium at St. Lawrence University. His presentation,
titled "Lasting Lessons of the Culture Wars: A Possible
Dialogue with Professor Henry H. Crimmel Jr.," will be on
Tuesday, September 25, at 8 p.m. in the Eben Holden Center on campus;

Schuckers and Minev '07 co-author award-winning biometrics paper
A paper co-authored
by Assistant Professor of Michael E. Schuckers and Yordan Minev
'07 won third prize at the International Conference on Biometrics,
held in Korea in August. Much of the research conducted by Minev
for the paper also was part of his senior-year experience, for

Saints Sports
The football team opened its season with a 20-13 victory
over Norwich. It is the fifth straight year the Saints have opened
the season with a win. Sophomore running back Connor Hackett
rushed for 163 yards in the win. Field hockey stayed unbeaten
with a 3-1 win over Nazareth. Men's soccer tied Rochester and
lost to Geneseo and women's soccer went 1-1 in the Plattsburgh
Tournament.

The following evening SLU hosted the annual Adirondack theme dinner following the First Year Cup Festival; a series of competitions among all FYPs to gain points for their college. Last Friday was the perfect day for the FYC festival and theme dinner. During the dinner there was a campus organization fair and a great band performing. More...
